My name is Alex, and I am 44 years old. At this age, many have found their life’s direction, but until last year, on January 1st, 2023, I was still searching. I was exploring, questioning, what is my life’s mission? Where is my value? This process was long and painful until I saw a video—NASA’s footage of the melting Arctic ice caps. In just three and a half minutes, I witnessed decades of change, the consequences of our human actions.
I am engaged in the business of low-carbon environmental protection fabrics and bedding, and this video further solidified my conviction. I realized that each of our daily lives, the products we choose, our lifestyle, all impact the future of this planet. I decided that through my efforts, I would influence more people and promote the development of environmental protection.
I initiated the Global Bedding 500 Brands list, hoping this list would encourage brands that take the environment as their mission, to let their philosophy not only shine in business but also take root in people’s lives. I firmly believe that the power of one person is minuscule, but when we gather to form a force, we can drive the development of the environmental cause.
With the melting of the Arctic ice caps and the rising of sea levels, many cities will be affected, including my hometown, Shanghai. This personal connection gave me an unprecedented sense of urgency to act. We hope that through this list, we can provide consumers with a guide to choosing low-carbon environmental bedding, and also hope to cooperate with environmental organizations from various countries to contribute to the environmental cause together.
We are willing to donate 1% of our transaction volume to these organizations, injecting continuous momentum into the environmental cause. We hope to establish a virtuous cycle, building a closed-loop of a low-carbon environmental value chain. We hope this list is not just a ranking but a call to action, a beginning of change.
